Nuremberg - Germany

Our last stop on the trip...... the dock was in a VERY industrial port of Ehrlagen.... but the beauty of the city was worth the bus ride.....

Regensburg - History Museum

Not too far from where Viking's walking tour ended,  we were able to find the History Museum of the city of Regensburg.  It is located in a former Minorite monastery.  It houses a collection of the history, art, and culture of eastern Bavaria from the Stone Age to the present.
They do not have too many explanations in English. They offer headsets but even they only give you information for less than a quarter of their holdings. As with other museums however, it was very inexpensive.....Our guess is that many of these items will eventually be housed in the new Museum of Bavaria that is under construction near the Stone Bridge .......

Regensburg - Germany - Golf Museum

A little gem in the basement of an antique shop....... You are greeted by the owner/collector and for 5 euros you can view his extensive collection. He is quite knowledgeable about the history of golf.......  his perspective on the subject is very interesting......forget EVERYTHING you ever thought of golf originating in Scotland...... he has art to prove that it existed in another form (icy golf) in the Netherlands in the 1200's....

Regensburg - Germany - Walking Tour

Walking Tour of the Old City..... .... Excellent local guide ....Cathedral of St. Peter...... ironic since Pope Benedict XVI (Joseph Ratzinger) was a native of Regensburg..... he later became the first Pope to resign the papacy citing his age and decreased stamina.....
Home of Oskar Schindler of "Schindler's List" Fame

This is a photograph of what the famous Stone Bridge USUALLY looks like.....Just below it is a photo of mine of what the bridge looks like as it undergoes a massive renovation.... according to our tour guide, it will take longer than the original construction.

On Board the Viking Longboat

The beauty speaks for itself....Based on the weather conditions for this trip, we probably would have been fine to have a French Balcony.... it was too cool and rainy to sit out much... and as you may be able to see from the photo, we are "rafted" up against another boat.... If we HAD been on our balcony we would have been RIGHT in front of a French Balcony cabin on the neighboring boat.....The staff of the Viking Jarl had been VERY well trained..... they made each of us feel as if they truly cared about our enjoyment of the trip...... special requests were NOT a problem either...
